What to Bring

To promote a more comfortable stay, there are items we encourage patients to bring with them upon admission. As we strive to provide a secure environment, there are certain items that are not allowed on our inpatient units. Lists of both acceptable and unacceptable items are below.

As with all elements of your stay, Cedar Creek Hospital staff is available to assist you. If there is an item you’d like to bring that doesn’t appear on the lists below, a member of our staff can let you know whether or not it is an acceptable item.

*The below information is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and the list is subject to change. If you have any questions, please call us. Cedar Creek Hospital is not responsible for misplaced items or valuables.

(Items cannot contain string or rope-like materials)

  • Pack three outfits consisting of comfortable clothes, such as a sweatshirt and pants (A washer and dryer is available)
  • Night clothes and undergarments (bras cannot have underwire)
  • Comfortable slippers or shoes (preferably slip-on)
  • Personal hygiene items are provided (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, comb, etc.)
  • A journal (no metal rings please), books or magazines (cannot have staples)
  • Items that will provide you comfort, such as a picture of a loved one (no glass or frame)
  • Insurance card, driver’s license or proof of identification, and Social Security card

These items will not be accepted and are encouraged to be left at home. If any of these items are brought to the hospital, they will be removed and placed in a secure area until the patient is discharged. This list includes, but is not limited to:

  • Shoes with shoelaces
  • Belts of any kind
  • Spiked heels or boots (steel toe, metal tips etc.)
  • Knives, fingernail files, nail clippers, scissors(any items with sharp points are prohibited)
  • Needles or pins
  • Aerosol spray cans
  • Paracord bracelets or necklaces
  • Hair dryers, straightening irons, and curling irons
  • Musical instruments
  • Any electrical equipment or items with cords
  • Laptops / computer equipment / tablets
  • Radios / CD / DVD / MP3 Players
  • Glass objects, such as mirrors
  • Tape recorders / cameras / video cameras
  • Jewelry is encouraged to be left at home
  • Body piercings must be removed
  • Make-up
  • Cigarettes, cigars and lighters / matches
  • E-Cigarettes
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Money
  • Cell phone
  • Car keys
  • Firearms and / or ammunition
  • Blankets / pillows / stuffed animals
