What to Bring

To promote a more comfortable stay, there are items we encourage patients to bring with them upon admission. As we strive to provide a secure environment, there are certain items that are not allowed on our inpatient units. Lists of both acceptable and unacceptable items are below.

As with all elements of your stay, Cedar Creek Hospital staff is available to assist you. If there is an item you’d like to bring that doesn’t appear on the lists below, a member of our staff can let you know whether or not it is an acceptable item.

*The below information is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and the list is subject to change. If you have any questions, please call us. Cedar Creek Hospital is not responsible for misplaced items or valuables.

  • Insurance card and picture ID
  • Legal paperwork and/or guardianship paperwork as appropriate
  • List of prescription medications, including information about dosage
  • Relevant medical records
  • Name(s) and telephone number(s) of your primary care providers, psychiatrist, counselor, etc.
  • Phone Numbers: a list of important phone numbers- you will not have access to a personal phone. Calls can be made and received during designated phone times throughout the day

(Items cannot contain string or rope-like materials)

  • Clothing- Up to THREE (3) days of clothing as there is limited storage. Laundry facilities are available on site free of charge
  • Pants: Shorts must be fingertip length
  • Tops: tank top straps must be credit card width
  • Shoes: Slip-on shoes or sandals are suggested (shoestrings and flip-flops are not allowed)
  • Personal Hygiene Supplies: All hygiene items are provided by Cedar Creek Hospital – If you have prescription toiletries, please speak with the admission department whether this can be provided or brought in
  • Warm pajamas (must be modest/appropriate- robes are not allowed)
  • Outerwear- jackets or sweaters -no hoods, drawstrings or full-length metal zippers allowed (metal zippers can be no longer than 7 inches) to no longer than 4 inches.
  • Socks must be crew socks or shorter (we provide non-skid socks if needed)
  • Underwear (no thongs), Sports bras only (no bralettes or bras with underwire)
  • Softcover book (contents must be age appropriate)
  • Personal pictures (Not allowed to be in a frame)

These items will not be accepted and are encouraged to be left at home. If any of these items are brought to the hospital, they will be removed and placed in a secure area until the patient is discharged. This list includes, but is not limited to:

  • Food or outside drinks are not allowed during the admission process or on the unit
  • Clothing: Ripped, see-through clothing, tights, shoelaces, skirts, tank tops, steel-toe boots and/or shoes with cleats, tight clothing, spaghetti straps, torn clothing, belts, bandanas, caps/hats, headbands, pantyhose, scarves, hooded tops or jackets, revealing clothing, neckties, clothing with inappropriate artwork depicting alcohol, drugs or violence, or with inappropriate language, phrases or pictures.
  • No dresses and/or skirts (unless for religious purposes)
  • No hairdryers, curling irons, flat irons, hair pins, hair ties (we supply hair ties), etc.
  • No jewelry (wedding bands and piercings with studded jewelry are the only exception)
  • Items that are sharp, bedazzled or jeweled
  • Pens, pencils, markers, crayons, binders, spiral notebooks (these items will be provided on the unit)
  • Inappropriate reading material, hardcovers, magazines with exposed staples and/or strings and wires
  • Electronic Equipment: cellular devices, iPods, iPads, tablets, cameras, laptops, DVD players, earbuds, headphones, beepers, alarm clocks, radios, recording devices, portable fans, electric blankets, electric razors
  • Personal pillows, sheets, blankets or stuffed animals- in order to control for infections. We will supply all linens during your stay
  • Drugs, alcohol, paraphernalia, tobacco products, vapes
  • All toiletries, nail files disposable razors, clippers (feminine hygiene products will be provided by CCH)
  • Money, credit cards, jewelry
